I think this is a line from Que Sera Sera, made popular by Doris Day in the 60's... Here's the version I sang to my children:
When I was just a little girl, I asked my mommy, "What will I be? Will I be pretty, Will I be rich/ (smart?" Here's what she said to me: (Chorus) "Que sera sera, whatever will be, will be. The future's not ours to see, que sera, sera."
When I grew up and fell in love, I asked my sweetheart, "What lies ahead? Will there be rainbows day after day?" Here's what my sweetheart said: (Chorus)
Now I have children of my own, and when they ask me "What will life be? Will I be handsome, will I find love?" I tell them tenderly: (Chorus)
