What would I do if I didn't have you?

by Rachael
(Michigan)

This is a song I remember from a lullaby cassette that my mom used to play for me.

The only words I can remember are:

What would I do
if I didn't have you
to wake up to each day

You take my troubles
and put them in bubbles
and make them drift away

That's all! anyone recognize this?? I think the tape also had "child of mine" as one of the songs.

Lullabyes
by: Tami

When my kids were young (now age 14 and 20) they each had their own personal song. This one was my son's (the 20 year old). My daughter had Lucky Star by Madonna. I used to sing these songs to them whenever we were in a quiet time. My son still remembers this song.

At Three
by: marie

I sang this often to my now 18 year old daughter. One night when she was about three I was lying beside her in bed and when I sang "I wish I could make time stand still, and just keep looking at you.." she gasped and said "I wish that too mom. Know why?..." I surely did want to know. "Because.......", she said, "we're not going to die at the same time."

At three, she understood that we have each other's physical presence and attention for this moment, but we won't have it forever.

Sing to your kids, sing with your kids, pay attention to each other.

This is a song by Carole King called "If I didn't have you to wake up to". Used to sing it to my boys when they were babies. Album is called "Til their eyes shine..."

Enjoy the memories...

What would I do if I didn't have you
To wake up to each day
Who'd take my troubles and put them in bubbles
And make them burst away
And where would I find the innocence
That tells me it's okay

If I didn't have you to wake up to each day

Your father's going to be a little bit jealous
When the boys come around to call
And when you don't come home on time
He'll be pacing up and down the hall
But that's just a part of growing up
What could I do anyway

If I didn't have you to wake up to each day

Should I be strict, should I be mean
Should I teach you discipline
The times say yes, but I say no
You'll learn it from within

I know that every mother thinks her child
Is the prettiest one
But you've got a smile that can't be refused
It even brightens up the sun

I wish I could make time stand still and
Just keep lookin' at you
But that's something even Old Methuselah wasn't able to do
I hope you come around to see me
When I'm feeble, old and gray

Oh, what would I do
If I didn't have you to wake up to each day
Oh, what would I do
If I didn't have you to wake up to each day
