The first verse is something like this:
You are my sunshine
My only sunshine
You make me happy
When skies are grey
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
So please, don't take my sunshine away

My great grandpa use to sing this to me every single day. The man had such a difficult life, and only had a couple months to live when I was born. My mother had to work so even though he was sick she had to leave me with him. He ended up living another 5 years until I was in first grade. Every day I saw him, and every day he would sing that song to me and take care of me. Even though I don't remember him at all, I remember the bond we had.
I absolutely love this lullaby. It means so much to me.
