Lullaby my little one

by Aimee

My mum is trying to find a lullaby she heard as a child - about 1954.

These are the words we know: Lullaby my little one, sweet lullaby I sing to you. Here I watch my little one...

If anyone knows what it might be or where we could find it, please comment.

Thank you

I remember *most* of these lyrics

I sang this solo in our Sunday school pageant around 1961. It comes to mind every holiday season. Lovely melody. Here's what I remember:

Lullaby my little one
Sweet lullaby I sing to thee
Here I watch my pretty one
With reverence deep
On bended knee

Close thy drowsy eyes
Slumber sweetly
Sleep thou lovely one
Fair to see

When the wind blows loud and cold
T'will never reach thy cradle warm

Lullaby my little one NEW
by: Hollow Woman

I found your comment searching for a similar song from the early 60s:

Lullaby my little one,
Sweet lullaby I sing to you.
When the wind blows loud and cold
Till never (reach, touch, harm) my baby-o.

There were other verses but I can't remember them. The tune is lovely but a little 'melancholy'. It's not a jolly song, more one sung by someone who's quite weary.

In case it got changed over time, could it be this one. Lullaby lullaby my little one, lullaby my child so dear. Thy precious life has just begun, thy mother holds thee near.
