Good night dear Jesus, all the earth is still, my feet and hands are quiet too... Forgive the hurtful things I say, the hurtful things I sometimes do.... ????
I was saying this prayer as I always have since childhood. It was framed and hung on the wall in our bedroom. I decided to look it up on the internet to see who the author was. I saw a comment about Auntie Lee and I was amazed...and then I saw that it was written by my own sister on June 25, just a few days ago. Very pleasant memories from this child's prayer.

Bedtime prayer for Auntie Lee's honor by: Patty Clark
I learned this prayer as a child from my Auntie Lee, "Dear Jesus all the earth is still, my feet and hands are quiet, too" and say it often still. I never forgot it. A good prayer at bedtime relaxes a child and helps them sleep better. Hope people see this prayer and teach it to their children. When my Auntie Lee was 80 years old I recited it to her and she was so shocked she cried. She gave me this gift and it was with me my whole life. I gave it back to her when she realized and said, "You Remembered?" I am now 80 years old and think of her every time I say this prayer. I'm delighted to finally find it. Thank God for the internet.

Glad others remember this prayer too! by: LoriD
I too have been searching for the source of this prayer. A collegue of my father's sent a ceramic tile/plaque with this prayer as a gift to me when I was a youth. I loved the prayer and it became my nightly prayer. I now say it to my grand children.
The verse on the plaque is slightly shorter. There is a signature "H. Ashodian". I have not had any success searching his name. I hope someone can remember the name of the book they saw this prayer in. I would like to try and find a copy.

I have searched for this poem/prayer several times in the last few years. I am so happy to see that someone else remembers it!
I would love to find the book. I read it over and over as a child.

The rest of the poem as I remember it by: Liz L
Dear Jesus, all the earth is still, My feet and hands are quite too, And so before I say goodnight, I pray to be a child like you, But first of all I thank you God for parents kind and loving care, For teachers, pastors, happy friends, for all good people everywhere. Forgive the hurtful things I do, the hurtful words I sometimes say, Oh help me act and talk like you when you were just a child at play. And so goodnight, goodnight dear Jesus, the moonlit shadows gently creep, While I walk hand and hand with you across the meadow lands of sleep. ======================= In was in a Bible story book that my parents would read to me as a child. This prayer/poem was on the inside back cover with a picture of Jesus with a young child by the hand walking together in a moonlit meadow with stars overhead. I am in my mid-sixties and never have forgotten this poem. I wanted to check the accuracy of my memory when I tried to find it on line and came across this web-site, that just had a few lines in it.
