My oldest daughter is now 18 y/o. When she was a baby, I use to play a lullaby tape in her nursery while I rocked her. There was a particular song/lullaby that I learned from that tape - but I can not remember all of the lyrics - nor the title. And I don't know the name of the artist who sang it. I just know it was a cassette tape with only lullabys. This is what I do remember :
It was slow....
Daddy's gone to market town, daddy's gone to buy you a toy,
Hush my baby, wait for daddy.
Daddy's gone to market town, daddy's gone to buy you new shoes, hush my baby, wait for daddy....
I'm pretty sure there was more to it and this is in no particular order. This is just what I can remember. Someone gave me the tape at the baby shower. I have always sang this part of the lullaby to my 2 girls....even now at the ages of 18 and 16....sometimes at night I will lay with them, rub their head and sing lullabys. (Sweeeet) They don't mind it. This is all they have ever heard of it for the last 15+ years. I do not know where the tape is. It may have been placed in a yard sale by accident or in a charity bag. Anyways, if anyone can help me with more info on this lullaby I certainly do appreciate it!
I usually sing this part a few times and flow it into the lullaby "Hush little baby don't say a word, mama's gonna buy you a mocking bird....." :) they both have the same tempo (or close enough)
