A great big fat spider each morning I see, Spinning his web just as fast as can be.Along comes a fly not too terribly wise. that spider spied her and artfully cries; Come pretty one, come pretty one come come come come. Come to my web now and don't look so glum.I think that you'll make some nice chewing gum. Oh come pretty one come pretty one come come come coem.
When I married my little sweetheart in June, she would take her mother on our honeymoon. with her Mum she went up to bed for a start, I knocked on the door and I said with a heart: come pretty one , come pretty one come come come come, we're on out honeymoon Pansy my plum. Open the door love and throw out your Mum, Ok come pretty one etc

I remember a verse: Come, pretty one, come pretty one, come, come, come. Come to my garden and whistle, and hum. Come to my window and pick up a crumb. Come, pretty one, come pretty one, come, come, come come.
These the exact words I remember my father singing to us in 1940 before he went to France with the armed forces.

Lullaby and The NameNEW by: VulgarSpud
Thanks for the memory!
My late wife and I both remembered slightly different versions sung by our parents as childhood songs - not necessarily lullabies. My mother's version had "I'll fetch thee a crumb" rather than "pick up a crumb" which suggests either an older origin, or maybe just dialect difference.
Apart from this thread I've only ever heard reference to the song once, when Dennis Norden sang it to a slightly different tune on an episode of BBC Radio 4's "My Music" years ago.

I remember a verse: Come, pretty one, come pretty one, come, come, come.
Come to my garden and whistle, and hum.
Come to my window and pick up a crumb. Come, pretty one, come pretty one, come, come, come come.
If I'm not mistaken, the name is "Little Garden". My Dad used to sing it to me. I can be mistaken, sure thing. But I guess it's this one. The last line is "Come pretty one come pretty one into my garden and we shall see the Sun"?
