I’ve been trying to track this down for years! My gran used to sing the first two verses to me, didn’t know there was a third! I couldn’t find it anywhere. Good to know it was a real song.

Bye bye my baby-kins bye …the lullabyNEW by: Mary
My mom sang this to y sisters and me when we were babes and tots. We are all in our 70’s now when I had kids I asked her how sheblearned it, and some elder in her family had taught her. Origin unknown, but I once saw a sheet music versiiin in lousy condition and it’s copyright note was around 1880.
All of us sisters recall the words a bit differently but this is the gist of it… and yes, I sing it to my grandkids now!
The boys are all laughing and playing
And I am ready to weep
For here at home I am staying
To put the baby yo sleep
Refrain;
Bye bye my baby-kin bye
Why won’t you shut your eyes
Bye bye my sister-kin bye
Bye bye my baby-kin bye
Oh gramma gave me a penny
Green apples now are so cheap
I’ll give you ever so many
If you will please go to sleep
Refrain
I’ll give you my jumping rope dear
And all my marbles to keep
I’ll mKe you bishop and pope dear
If you will please go to sleep
